After years of struggling with growing my own hair and being tired of buying products with the hopes that they will make my hair look a certain way or achieve a desired texture. I decided to listen to my hair and just develop a healthy relationship with my hair and scalp (this I refer to as my "Kroes kop")
What helped the most was allowing my hair journey to take me where it wanted to and guess what? That’s how Kroes hare.care was birthed. The name is basically the feedback I got every time a hairdresser had to work on my hair.
It was always either my hair is too coarse (which is Kroes in Afrikaans given that I am from an Afrikaans-speaking society), or my hair is not easy to handle, and it takes time to care for. My big sister almost burnt my scalp off trying to wrestle with my stubborn texture.
My brother who owns a hair salon was always too, happy to shave my hair off and my mom always encouraged the short hair look, she would say it’s neater.
In 2012, is when I developed a caring relationship with my hair, I made many mistakes and had to restart the journey almost 4 times before getting it right. Eminent, to what scripture says “No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening- its painful! But afterwards there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.” Hebrews 12v11
My first breakthrough was in 2018, I started noticing the change,
developing a deeper understanding, and bottling my own hair products. The
more consistent I became; the more people became interested and needed
me to share with them. I guess then Kroes Hare Care must be the harvest,
right?
